The OpenOffice question: there are no plans for the strictly Ms-Word based ("classic") Wordfast to be ported to OO. But I have a project, which is to produce a stand-alone translation editor in Java, for all platforms, by year's end. It will use Wordfast TMs and glossaries as they are now, and will be abale to process DOC and DOCX files, plus a variety of other formats.

Considering that we need to have a lot of applications open at the same time (Dics, Browser, Skype, etc.) during a translation.

Would be a Java application not too "big", I mean, would it not need to much resources, and consequently makes the PC work slower?

Thks! for been here.

It is a concern, yes. But it would still be less of a burden than Ms-Word + VBA.I think you may have noticed how your PC's ventilator starts revving up whenever Wordfast starts :-)

The Java virtual machine does pump resources, but VBA does even worse. Yes, Wordfast contributes to global warming, and José Bové would not appreciate :-(

I'll try to do something about it. Have you had your PC hang because of processor overheating (or a loud ventilator noise) when using a Java application?

Cheers,
Yves
